Yesterday my wife dropped by the Magsaysay Park to check out this event that started last week November 17 and ends today November25. It is the “Kalimudan Festival”.

Kalimudan Festival is actually an annual Festival that celebrates the founding of the rural province of Sultan Kudarat which became an independent province on 21 November, 1973. Usually held at Isulan, the event also celebrates the harvest season and brings together the region’s different tribal groups. Events include a mix of entertainments such as traditional dancing, sports events, a trade fair and tribal games and demonstration. This year Davao City is proud to host the Kalimudan Festival at the Magsaysay Park, one of the oldest parks here in Davao.

According to her there were lots of handicraft showcase for those that love native products, there were also costumes for different tribal heritage and houses that is typically built, that showcases the habitat of a certain tribal culture. She also saw wood carvings of different tribal names with its translation.

The event will end today. Too bad I wasn’t able to witness the event or visit the exhibit due to busy schedule but I would surely include it in my list in it’s next years event.

My first time in Davao City was in 1998, even before landing to this city, the Durian fruit have always gave me a mysterious way of knowing it.
